Overview
Dawnary (“we,” “our,” or “this app”) is a mobile application focused on personal diary recording. We take your privacy seriously, and this privacy policy details how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

We collect this data only with your explicit consent and use it solely to add context to your diary entries.

Data Storage Methods
Local Storage:
- All diary content is stored locally on your device by default
- We do not upload your data to any third-party servers
- We do not access, read, or transmit your diary content
- Data is not shared with third parties
iCloud Backup (Optional):
- If you enable iCloud sync, your diary data will be synced across your devices through Apple’s iCloud service
- iCloud backup uses your Apple ID, and data is stored on Apple’s iCloud servers
- If Location & Weather is enabled, related diary metadata may include city names, weather data, and the coordinates needed to restore that context; this metadata syncs only to your private iCloud database
- If iCloud Sync is enabled, companion letters, companion-letter decision records, user impressions, personal memory, and personal information will also sync to your private iCloud database to keep companion settings and AI companion experiences consistent across your devices
- Data Storage Location: iCloud data may be stored on servers located outside your country/region, which may involve cross-border data transfer
- Cross-Border Transfer Notice: If you use iCloud backup, your data may be transferred to Apple’s servers located outside your country/region. This data transfer is managed by Apple Inc. and is subject to Apple’s privacy policy and terms of service. You can disable iCloud backup at any time in settings to stop cross-border data transfer
- iCloud data is protected by Apple’s privacy policy and terms of service
Purpose of Data Use
We use locally stored data only for:
- Providing diary recording and editing functionality
- Displaying your diary list
- Saving your application preferences
- Recording location and weather metadata (if enabled): Inserting city and/or weather into diary entries and restoring that context later
- Generating share images: Converting diary content to image format for download or sharing
Permission Usage
This app may require the following permissions, all of which are optional:
Photo Library Permission:
- Purpose: Allow you to select images from your photo library to insert into diary entries, or save shared images to your photo library
- Usage: Only used when you actively choose images or save images
- Data Collection: We do not collect or upload your photo library content
Camera Permission:
- Purpose: Allow you to take photos and insert them into diary entries
- Usage: Only used when you actively use the camera feature
- Data Collection: We do not collect or upload photos you take
Location Permission (Sensitive Personal Information):
- Purpose: Add your current city and optional weather to diary entries, and restore that context later
- Necessity: Location information helps enhance diary context, but this feature is completely optional and does not affect core app functionality
- Usage: Only used when you explicitly grant location access and enable the corresponding insertion options in settings
- Data Collection: We may store city names, weather data, and the coordinates needed to restore this context in diary metadata
- Data Storage: This metadata is stored locally on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud database. It is not uploaded to our own servers
- Control: You can disable future insertion of location and weather in settings, revoke location access in system settings, and disable iCloud sync at any time
All permissions can be revoked at any time in system settings.
Data Security
Security Measures
- All data is stored locally on your device by default
- We do not collect or transmit any sensitive information to third-party servers
- The app’s core functionality is completely offline and does not require network connectivity
- Data is not shared with any third parties (except through optional iCloud synchronization between your devices)
- iCloud data is protected by Apple’s encryption and security measures
Data Control
- You can delete the app at any time to remove all data
- You can delete specific diary entries through the app’s delete functionality
- You have complete control over your data
Third-Party Services
Apple Services:
- iCloud (Optional): This app optionally uses Apple’s iCloud service for data backup and synchronization. iCloud service is subject to Apple’s privacy policy and terms of service. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in settings.
- Apple WeatherKit (Optional): If you enable weather insertion, the app calls the Apple WeatherKit API to fetch weather data. WeatherKit receives your GPS coordinates to return weather for your location; this is subject to Apple’s privacy policy. We may store the returned weather data and the coordinates needed to restore this context in diary metadata. You can disable future weather insertion at any time in settings.
No Other Third-Party Services:
- This app does not integrate any third-party analytics services
- Does not contain advertising services
- Does not use any external data collection tools
- Does not connect to any cloud services or third-party servers other than Apple iCloud and Apple WeatherKit
Children’s Privacy
This app is suitable for users of all ages. Since we do not collect any personal identification information, there are no children’s privacy concerns.
Data Retention
- Your diary data will be retained on your device until you actively delete it
- If iCloud backup is enabled, data will also be retained in your iCloud account until you actively delete it
- Deleting the app will remove all related data on your device, but will not automatically delete data in iCloud (you need to manually delete it in iCloud settings)
- We do not retain any copies of your data

You have the following rights:
Right to Access:
- Access all data stored locally on your device
- Understand how we collect and process your personal information
Right to Delete:
- Delete any or all diary content
- Delete diary entries that contain location and weather metadata, or remove synced diary data from your iCloud account
- Completely uninstall the app to remove all data on your device
Right to Withdraw Consent:
- Disable future location and weather insertion in settings at any time to withdraw consent for further location information collection
- Disable iCloud sync in settings at any time to withdraw consent for cross-border data transfer
Right to Rectification:
- Edit and correct your diary content at any time

- Provide feedback or suggestions regarding personal information processing activities
